The work itself
Our adult nursing teams look after people living with long-term conditions, recovering from surgery, or waiting on a placement that keeps changing. That means the work is less about constant alarms and more about noticing the small change before it becomes a big one.
You will be the named nurse for a group of people, which sounds ordinary until you run it. You write the care plan, you make the call when a family asks something you have not got an answer for, and you hand over clearly so the next shift can pick it up.
We keep nurse-to-patient ratios on the board so you can see them before you accept a shift, not discover them on the day.
What you will actually do
- Hold a named caseload and own the care plan for each person
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care against current guidance
- Hand over in a structured way so the next shift is never guessing
- Escalate clinical risk to the senior nurse or on-call manager
- Keep records accurate and contemporaneous at the point of care
What we need from you
- NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult) with a current PIN
- Able to evidence your clinical assessment and decision making
- Clear, plain-English communication with people with communication needs
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete enhanced checks
