The work itself
This is the job where you find out whether care is for you, and a lot of people discover it is. You are the person who notices the person who has not eaten, who cannot reach the call bell, who has stopped asking for help.
Plenty of our senior staff and one of our ward managers started here. We have made that path deliberate rather than accidental: funded training, protected study time, and a named senior who walks with you for the first quarter.
What you will actually do
- Support personal care, mobility, meals and hydration with dignity
- Observe and report changes in a person's condition to the nurse in charge
- Keep the environment safe, clean and ready for the next shift
- Encourage independence instead of doing things for people unnecessarily
What we need from you
- No formal qualification needed — we assess you at interview
- Compassion, patience and the judgement to know when to stop and call
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete enhanced checks
- Availability for at least four shifts a week including weekends
